TruService Community Federal Credit Union (hereby referred to as TruService) has always held member information and transactions in confidence, and has never sold member information for use by non-affiliated third parties. As explained below, we shall continue this commitment to protect information entrusted to us by our members.

TruService does not share information about our members with other companies except in an effort to provide member service or to make special offers available that we feel may be of interest to our members. If any of our vendor relationships require disclosure of member information in order to provide service to our members, we require that the vendor not use member information for any other purpose. We may also provide information to regulatory authorities or law enforcement in accordance with applicable law. Non-member information is treated the same as member information.

Protect against unauthorized access to or use of such records or information that could result in substantial harm or inconvenience to any member or customer of the credit union.

The purpose of TruService's privacy policy is to:

  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of member/customer records and information.
  • Protect against any anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of such records.

This policy applies only to nonpublic information about individuals who
obtain financial products or services for personal, family, or
household purposes. It does not apply to information about
companies or individuals who obtain financial products or
services for business, commercial, or agricultural products.

TruService will provide an initial notice to members about the credit unions privacy policies, describing the conditions under which the credit union may disclose nonpublic personal information to non-affiliated third parties and affiliates, before the information is disclosed.

TruService will provide an annual notice of the credit unions privacy policies to members with which it establishes a customer relationship.

TruService will provide a method for members to prevent the credit union from disclosing nonpublic personal information, subject to certain exceptions, to most non-affiliated third parties and affiliates, referred as "opting out". These opt-out disclosures will be in a form that is clear and conspicuous, and will fully describe the credit union?s privacy policies.

In the event TruService changes its policy, a revised policy notice that covers new financial products and/or services will be provided to existing members who obtain a new financial product.
TruService does not need to provide a new privacy notice if the initial, revised, or annual notice most recently provided to the member was accurate with respect to the new product or service.

When two or more consumers jointly obtain a financial product or service, other than a loan, TruService may satisfy the initial policy notice by providing one initial notice jointly to those consumers.

TruService will provide initial privacy notices so that each consumer can reasonably expect to receive an actual notice in writing, or if the consumer agrees, electronically. It is reasonably expected The notice is hand-delivered to the consumer.
A printed copy of the notice is mailed to the last known address of the consumer.
For consumers who conduct transactions electronically, the notice is posted on the electronic site and the consumer is required to acknowledge receipt of the notice as a necessary step to obtaining a particular product or service.

TruService may not provide any notice by orally explaining the notice, either in person or by telephone.

In addition to any other information TruService wishes to provide, the initial and annual privacy notices will include each of the following items of information that applies to TruService or to the consumers to whom TruService sends its privacy notices:

The categories of nonpublic personal information TruService collects.
How the confidentiality, security and integrity of your nonpublic personal information is maintained.
The categories of nonpublic personal information the credit union discloses.
The categories of information shared with authorized outside marketing services or joint marketing services on our behalf. The types of businesses with whom we may disclose nonpublic personal information for outside marketing or authorized joint marketing purposes.
TruService will not disclose nonpublic information about former members except as permitted by law.
The categories of nonpublic personal information which TruService may in the future disclose to our affiliates.
The categories of future affiliates that TruService may use to disclose nonpublic personal information.
The categories of information that TruService may disclose to non-affiliated third parties in the future.
An explanation of the right to opt out of the disclosure of nonpublic personal information to non-affiliated third parties, including the methods by which the consumer may exercise that right at that time.

This policy will be reviewed at least annually by the Board of Directors of TruService.
